That’s a perfectly reasonable concept, but in typical Assassin’s Creed fashion the plot instantly becomes overcomplicated with out-of-character betrayals, the shoe-horning in of Napoléon Bonaparte, and, for some reason, a kid sidekick. Set after the events of the main game, we imagine Dead Kings probably started out with the very simple premise of locating an artefact for the Marquis de Sade – with the idea that the game could throw in some supernatural elements and become a sort of 18th century Indiana Jones pastiche. Most of the story missions actually take place in the catacombs beneath the city, creating a very different atmosphere, that almost edges into survival horror territory at times. Or at least that’s the case above ground. It’s set in what is today Saint-Denis, in the northern suburbs of Paris, and as you can imagine this means it looks very similar to the original game – except obscured by a permanent layer of fog. If you bought it before it was pulled, you're entitled to a free game of your choosing-and the list is full of great games.Dead Kings takes place on a brand new map that is roughly a quarter the size of the existing Paris area. The Unity DLC pass has since been removed from sale. However, Ubisoft announced in November that Dead Kings would become a free download for all players in a bid to make up for Unity's troubled launch. The Dead Kings expansion was originally going to be part of the Unity DLC pass for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Players can also unlock new weapons, gear, and outfits that can be used in the main Unity game and the Dead Kings expansion. These are new murder mysteries, enigmas, and cooperative missions. Equipped with a lantern and a new powerful weapon, the Guillotine gun, Arno will have to navigate the dangerous passageways to uncover the darkest secrets of the city."ĭead Kings features a "fully fledged" single-player campaign, as well as new open-world activities and side missions. Sent on a mission to the extensive underground of the Basilica, Arno will face a faction of new foes, the Raiders, populating its catacombs.

"After the events of Assassin's Creed Unity, Arno leaves Paris for Saint Denis, a mysterious city that holds the crypts of deceased French kings.
